   The Artist

As a child growing up near
Houston, Texas, I spent many
hours lying on the floor drawing
horses, airplanes, trains, cars
and all the other things that
capture a boy's fancy.  After
high school and a couple of
years of college, I spent two
years at the Art Center School
in Los Angeles (now called the
Art Center College of Design)
with the goal of becoming an
illustrator.  However, a four-
year stint in the Navy, followed
by a marriage and children
forced a change of direction.
Now, after seven years as a photographer and twenty-
eight years in the computer
world, I've returned to the
art world.

Landscapes, figures and still lifes done in oil constitute the bulk of my work.
In addition to the contemporary painters with whom I have studied, influences
include such greats as John Singer Sargent, early California impressionists and illustrators such as Howard Pyle, Dean Cornwell and N C Wyeth.

My wife Kathy and I live in Lufkin, Texas, but I often travel to paint the landscapes of Texas, Colorado, New Mexico and elsewhere in the U S. Time between trips is spent creating studio landscapes from plein air studies, painting still lifes, portraits and figures.
